There is no disputing that today's GOP led by Donald Trump are focusing their hate, ire, and rage on Trans people in our country.  From accusations that "democrats are trying to turn everyone's kids trans," to unbalanced umbrage about "men in women's sports", the LGBTQ+ community is the primary target of the administration's hateful propoganda and calls to action.  According to GLAAD, these efforts expand well beyond just our trans community, with anti-DEI moves being specifically targeted to the entire LGBTQ+ community.  A small sampling of the regressive moves these hateful Republicans have made against LGBTQ+ people are:

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the administration is investigating what she claimed were the many reasons that transgender people are turning to “domestic terrorism,” even though there is no proof of that happening. She said that anyone who denies that trans people are getting more violent is “willfully ignorant.” Transgender people are four times more likely to be victims of crime than cisgender people. 96% of mass shootings are carried out by cisgender people.

The Trump administration’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) pulled / restricted access to nearly two dozen webpages from their website, with many relating to LGBTQ health care or other initiatives combating health inequities. Pages which were removed include: “About Shigella Among Gay, Bisexual, and Other Men Who Have Sex With Men,” “CDC’s CORE Commitment to Health Equity,” “Health Equity for People with Disabilities,” “NPIN: Lesbian/Bisexual Women,” “NPIN: Understanding Asexuality,” “STI Information for Transgender and Gender Diverse Persons,” and “Tuberculosis and Asian Persons.”

Faculty and workers unions at UCLA filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, claiming that the administration violated their academic freedoms and constitutional rights by freezing research grants in retaliation for non-compliance with requested anti-LGBTQ policy changes at university centers. The lawsuit comes after a letter was sent by Trump’s Department of Justice (DOJ) to UCLA on August 8th, which demanded that UCLA’s hospital system end gender-affirming care for minors, that UCLA institute a ban on transgender athletes competing in sports aligning with their gender identity, and that UCLA overhaul their campus policies to comply with anti-DEI efforts. Over $584 million in federal grants for medical and scientific research remain frozen amid the legal battle.
