Wael Ghonim is an Egyptian Internet activist and computer engineer with an interest in social entrepreneurship. In 2011, he became an international figure and galvanized pro-democracy demonstrations in Egypt after his emotional interview following 11 days of secret incarceration by Egyptian police.  He later penned the memoir of his contribution to the non-violent revolution in Egypt titled "Revolution 2.0: The Power of the People is Greater than the People in Power", using the popular pro-democracy slogan as his subtitle.

Throughout history, it is only when the people exercise their collective power that the people IN power realize their limits, something sorely needed in our US democracy today, as the Trump administration seizes vast amounts of authority from the people that elected him.  Democracies are designed to source and guide the people in power through the will of the people, not to withstand authoritarian wanna-be kings, and only through reminding our elected officials from where their power comes can we maintain, preserve, and protect that democracy.
