As of January 2025, the U.S. government has indefinitely suspended refugee processing, canceled all scheduled refugee travel, and terminated the Welcome Corps program. These changes mean a significant restriction on new refugees entering the country, with the possibility of a small number of case-by-case exceptions being granted at the discretion of the Secretaries of State and Homeland Security, most publicly South African farmers, the subjects of a FAKE "White Genocide." The only way to now get an H1B visa into the US is by paying $100,000, and all admissions from 43 countries have been suspended entirely under Trump's travel bans. Immigrants going through the legal immigration process are now having their cases summarily dismissed and walking straight into ICE detention outside their courtroom hearings, and hundreds of thousands of immigrants and refugees inside the USA have been aqbducted, incarcerated, and deported by the Trump administration with zero legal recourse or appeal, often to 3rd party countries where they have never been before, or even into foreign super prisons.
These moves by the administration throw feces in the face of Emma Lazarus' poem "the New Colossus" written in 1883 and inscribed upon a plaque within her base:
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
